Trying something new for Homework

Last week, our students began using Khan Academy to review math skills, introduce new ones, and to practice. This is a wonderful site that is free for everyone.

When signing into Khan Academy, students need to sign into Chrome using their OCSB gmail account (firstname.lastname@ocsbstudent.ca). Then they can go to khan academy, and log in with Google. Once there,  they should click on "ASSIGNMENTS" at the top of the page. From there, they should be able to continue with the assignments I have selected for them. This week, they should have to do with addition and subtraction, but since everyone moves at a different pace, they may be on to something else.

For homework this week, I would like them to try to complete 5 videos (they just need to watch them), then do the assignment that goes along with the video. The assignments typically consist of a few questions that are modeled much like the video. If your child is having difficulty with them, have them watch the video again to see if it helps.

Here is the link to Khan Academy. Please let me know how this homework routine is working for your child.
